We use Plaid to securely connect to your US bank. Plaid is the same infrastructure used by Venmo, Coinbase, and thousands of other financial apps. Your bank credentials are never stored on our servers — they're encrypted end-to-end by Plaid. Transactions sync automatically based on your plan (daily on Starter, hourly on Pro, and up to every hour during market hours on Premium).
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel whenever you want. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades kick in at the end of your current billing period. If you downgrade, you keep access to your existing data — you just won't be able to add new connections or features beyond your new tier's limits.
All connections are encrypted in transit via TLS. Sensitive credentials like bank tokens are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage. We support passkey authentication — no passwords to steal. We don't sell your data, we don't share it with advertisers, and we don't use it for anything other than showing you your own finances. Our business model is subscriptions, not surveillance.
Currently, automatic bank sync is available for US banks through Plaid. International bank support is on our roadmap. In the meantime, you can track international accounts manually or via CSV and JSON import, and use multi-currency support to convert balances with near real-time exchange rates.
Pro includes one partner sharing slot — your partner gets their own login and can see shared accounts and budgets. Premium expands this to up to 5 household members. If you have unused bank-connection slots on Pro or Premium, you can lend them to other Forbidden Finance users — they connect their own banks into your spare capacity, while your tier features and your data stay private. Each person controls exactly which accounts to share back.
We accept all major credit and debit cards. Subscriptions are billed monthly. There are no annual contracts and no setup fees.
